Limestone
Limestone Flour (Calcium carbonate CaC03) provides a rich source of bioavailable Calcium.
Limestone Flour is an important mineral for many functions within the horse’s body, including lactation, bone growth and maintenance, muscle function, blood clotting and enzyme function.
Diets high in straight cereals usually contain high levels of Phosphorus that can unbalance the sensitive Calcium:Phosphorus ratio within the body.
If Calcium is not available in the diet the body will obtain it from elsewhere, such as from Calcium stored in the bones. when necessary adding Limestone Flour to the daily cereal feed can help to redress the Calcium-Phosphorus balance.
The Balanced Range of feeds supplies enough Limestone flour to satisfy the needs of the equine, when fed at recommended levels.
